Animal Crossing is a simulation game exclusively for the Gamecube. In the game, you move into a town full of animals. You start with a tiny house and very little money. You must earn money (known as bells) to buy more furniture, items for your house, and to upgrade to a bigger house. You can fish, collect bugs, sell fossils, do jobs for the animals, and a few other things to earn money.
The animals range from anything to a cat, dog, bear, octopus, and much more. There is a lot of variety of animals but only a few personality types. Animals can move out, and new ones can move in.
Your town in the game also features a museum (with four sections) that you must donate to. A police station where the officer tells of daily events and there is also a lost & found in the station itself. A wishing well which tells you how well your town is doing. Tom Nook's shop: a place you will need to go a lot if you want to buy more things. Last but not least there is also a post office to mail out letters.
Other features in the game include: planting and growing trees, making snowmen (during the winter), interacting with special items and much more. The game has a variety of things to do. If you get bored with one thing easily, just do another thing. While the game has a lot to do in it, it does get repetitive at times. The animals seem to say the same things over and over again. Their jobs you do for them are just basically "find my item" or "return my item". A lot of the monthly events just involve talking to the mayor to get an item.
A nice feature of Animal Crossing is the unlockable Nintendo (NES) games to play. Games include: Punch Out, Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, various sports games and more. The main problem with this is some are only obtainable by using a cheat disc or cheat device (since Nintendo never properly released codes for them). Speaking of codes, you can trade with other players, even though the game is not online. You trade a code with a friend, and type it in to get the item.
Overall, Animal Crossing is a fun game with only a few flaws. It gets an 8 out of 10. Repetitive lines from the animals, some boring monthly events and some of the NES games aren't very fun are my main complaints with the game.
