Stealing a Balloon
You can steal an opponent's balloon in battle mode by ramming into him/her with a mushroom.

Starting Boost
As soon "2" on the starting counter begins to fade, hold down the A button to get a boost at the starting line.

Free Mushroom
If you hit a goomba that are on some the courses with a turtle shell, he will drop a mushroom which can be used to give you a boost.

Lakitu Boost
When you fall into the water or lava and the Lakitu picks you up and drops you back down, as soon as your tires hit the ground, press and hold "A" to get a boost.
