zbattle.netOffsite Link is a small program that will allow you to connect to a server which displays a room of people wanting to play Super Nintendo games over the internet. Players will be connected through a third-party emulator called ZSNES (currently the only SNES emulator that zbattle.net works with). ZSNES internet play is far from being optimized or refined. Players not on high-speed connections will find it very difficulty to play online at all, as they will suffer from huge lag and slow-downs due to the poor netcode currently implemented within ZSNES. Unfortunately ZSNES has been developed very slowly over the years and has still yet to fix this issue.

Through zbattle.net you can join people's games, and even download the games from the player if zbattle doesn't detect the game in your rom folder. You will need to remove your roms from archives, if you store your roms in .zip or .rar archives for zbattle.net to recognize them. zbattle.net distinguishes flawlessly which version of the game you have, so both players will need matching versions as well.

ROUTER USERS

To host, or even play on zbattle, you must allow zbattle.net in your router settings. Furthermore, you have to allow ZSNES as well. More information on this can be found in the zbattle.net FAQOffsite Link. Some users using a certain type of router will not be able to connect or play at all.

This information was written on zbattle.net version 1.09 SR-1 beta.
