Aladdin ingameProbably the only reason I went back and played this game was because I used to play this game a lot as a kid. Well recently I decided to pick it up again (through emulation, since I don't actually have this game in my collection) and see if it was as good as a remembered. I came to the same conclusion, it's an overall well designed and conceived platformer, to a successful movieOffsite Link. One of the main problems; however, it's relatively easy for your advanced gamer-type-person, and furthermore it's pretty short too. I went through this game fairly fast, about an hour. It might have taken longer if I was going after every single red gem though. So maybe, all in all, it's not actually that great.

Most of the graphics sounds, and music is reminiscent of the movie, and the progression that you go through follows the movie somewhat (excluding some of the later stages, like the genie stageImage Link). There's also a fun secondary objective in the game, which is to collect as many red rubies as you can, which supposedly gets you an alternate ending. The hardest part of this game that I found was the magic carpet lava stageImage Link, I think I lost about 6 lives my first time through. And as a kid, I used to get really angry at that stage, because I could barely beat it. Going through the game again was fairly fun experience, but I probably wouldn't recommend you to buy it thought, since it's so short.

I was generally pleased that I was the first one to actually see if there was anything past "The End", and to my surprise, after speeding the game up, something does happen after about 10 normal minutes. More can be read about it on my tricks, cheats and passwords page. There is actually quite a few fans of this game, and the GameFAQs forum for this game is generally fairly active (when I last looked) despite this being a mediocre 12 year old game .But most the activity is probably based on what this page of mine was conceived as: an old memory, re-awakened for nostalgic indulgence.
